About
Hi. I’m Jamie.
I built this site because I couldn’t find what I was looking for — a calm, practical place to learn how to use AI in real life, without the hype or the tech speak.
When AI started showing up everywhere, my first impression wasn’t excitement. At work, people were using it to make funny pictures. It seemed like a novelty — something for tech people, not something with any real use for the rest of us.
Then I tried it for something that actually mattered.
I used it to help understand a set of medical results. Not to replace my doctor — but to walk into that conversation actually knowing what I was looking at. The difference was significant. I left that appointment with better questions and a clearer head than I’d had going in.
After that I started using it for other things. Deep research on companies I was considering investing in. A cabinet refinishing project where I needed to understand products, sequences, and techniques I’d never worked with before. Each time, the same pattern: I came in skeptical, I left more prepared than I would have been otherwise.
“I wasn’t looking to become an AI expert. I just wanted practical help for real situations. I couldn’t find a site that offered that — so I built one.”
I spent years working in a demanding industry where getting things wrong had real consequences. That background shapes how I approach AI. You verify things before you act. You don’t trust something just because it sounds confident. You stay in charge of your own decisions.
That’s the philosophy behind every guide on this site. AI is genuinely useful — and also genuinely imperfect. Both things are true. The goal isn’t to hand your thinking over to a machine. It’s to use it carefully, ask better questions, and walk into situations more prepared than you would have been without it.
Practical AI for Life is for people who aren’t interested in the technology itself — they’re interested in what it can actually do for them. The guides are built around real situations, written in plain language, and tested against real use. No jargon. No hype. No assumption that you’ve spent any time in the tech world.
Every guide follows the same four steps: Show it. Paste it. Explain it. Verify it. That last step matters most — especially for anything involving health, money, or legal decisions. AI helps you think more clearly. The decision is still yours.
If you’re new here, start at the Decision Hub. Find the situation that’s in front of you right now and go from there.
